Our commitment
Research is only useful if people can read it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across this website.
What we have built in
Specific measures taken in the construction of this site include:
- Semantic HTML structure with a single main heading per page and correctly ordered headings
- A skip-to-content link, and full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators
- Text and interface colours tested for contrast against their backgrounds
- Charts that carry a text description and an accompanying data table, so no information is available only visually
- Data presented in real tables with proper row and column headers
- Respect for the reduced-motion preference set in your operating system
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology
- Form fields with associated labels and errors announced in text, not by colour alone
Known limitations
Some research publications include complex data visualisations. Where a chart cannot be fully conveyed in text, we provide the underlying figures as a data table beneath it. If you encounter a chart where this is missing, please tell us.

If any part of this website prevents you from accessing our research, email [email protected] describing the page and the difficulty. We treat accessibility reports as defects and aim to respond within five working days.
