Ama Serwaa Boateng
Head of Macroeconomic Research
Leads FlowWealth's macroeconomic research. Former central bank economist specialising in inflation dynamics and monetary transmission.
Biography
Ama Serwaa Boateng leads FlowWealth's macroeconomic research, covering inflation, monetary and fiscal policy, growth and the external accounts across Ghana and West Africa. The work is deliberately forecast-light and mechanism-heavy: the aim is to explain why an indicator is moving and what would have to change for it to move differently, rather than to publish a point estimate and defend it.
Ama spent seven years as an economist at a central bank research department, working on inflation modelling and the transmission of policy rate decisions into bank lending rates and Treasury yields. That work informs a recurring theme in FlowWealth's published research: in Ghana the pass-through from the policy rate to deposit rates is slow and incomplete, which has direct consequences for where household savings actually earn a real return.
Ama authors The Macro Brief and contributes the inflation and monetary policy sections of FlowWealth's quarterly outlooks.
